DENMARK CRACKS DOWN ON ISLAMIC CALL TO PRAYER
Denmark is advancing new legislation to combat what its new government argues is growing "Islamisation" in the country. The government of Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen has proposed outlawing the Islamic call to prayer, which is traditionally broadcast across cities throughout the country using loudspeakers. The proposal reflects a hardening stance in Copenhagen; Morten Bodskov, the Danish Minister of Immigration and Integration, has defended the law, arguing that a gradual "Islamisation" was "taking up too much of the public space." Notably, however, similar laws have failed in the past, and the new proposal faces legal challenges over constitutional protections for public worship. (GB News, June 25, 2026)
HAMAS' DECEPTION STRATEGY, DETAILED
New internal Hamas documents obtained and released by the Jerusalem Post lay out long-term plans by the Palestinian terror group to trick Israel's intelligence agencies in the lead-up to its October 7th campaign of terror. By intentionally projecting an image of restraint, Hamas sought to convince Israel that it wanted to avoid escalation. Internally, however, the group advanced detailed plans for its attack – a strategy that included regular activities near the Israeli border and the construction of military positions (albeit at a routine pace). During this period, Hamas also avoided intervening in a series of conflicts between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian rejectionist group. At the same time, it highlighted humanitarian discussions with international intermediaries in order to project a moderate image focused on state-building. (Jerusalem Post, June 18, 2026)
SYRIAN SCHOOLS PROMOTE RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM...
A school network tied to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-affiliated government of Syrian president Ahmed al-Sharaa is intensifying its indoctrination of extremist religious and political views among Syrian students. A new report by Israel's Alma Center think tank on the curriculum of the "Dar al-Wahi al-Sharif" school network finds that jihadist and anti-Israel indoctrination begins as early as kindergarten. The curriculum calls Israel "the Zionist enemy," and erases the country on maps, labeling it "Palestine." Jews and Christians are likewise portrayed as enemies of Islam, with jihad and armed struggle against them presented as a righteous and desirable cause. The findings paint a troubling picture of how HTS' Islamist messages are attempting to shape the country's next generation in alignment with its religious and political precepts. ...AS DAMASCUS FACES PRESSURE OVER FOREIGN FIGHTERS
The Sharaa regime is coming under pressure for another reason as well. Foreign fighters embedded in the Syrian military are becoming a growing source of diplomatic strain between Damascus and foreign capitals. The roughly 5,000 foreign fighters now embedded in the Syrian army currently appear focused on helping Sharaa to maintain domestic control, and are valued for the experience and loyalty they built in helping to topple Assad's regime. However, many have been accused of violent attacks and extrajudicial killings targeting minority groups, while both Lebanon and Israel remain wary of the presence of foreign Islamist fighters on their borders.
Removing these elements from Syria's army was a precondition for U.S. sanctions relief following the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime at the hands of Islamist forces led by Sharaa in December 2024. However, the situation has persisted, despite American confidence-building measures like the repeal of the 2019 Caesar Act. Now, Syria's foreign fighters are being debated as a condition for continued U.S. defense support, posing a difficult dilemma for a Syrian government that has long relied on these elements in order to hold power. THE RISKS OF THE U.S. PULLOUT FROM IRAQ
As the U.S. plans its exit from Iraq, fears are rising that an American withdrawal could lay the groundwork for a resurgence of Islamic radicalism in the country. The full U.S. military pullback is currently scheduled for September 30, 2026, but concerns persist about the security situation in the country, where Iran-backed militias under the auspices of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces have not yet fully disbanded even as Baghdad tries to integrate them into the Iraqi military. At the same time, analysts say, those militias and the Islamic State terror group reinforce one another – with the militias justifying their continued arms and autonomy by pointing to the ISIS threat, while ISIS successfully recruits from the grievances these same militias create.
