The AFPC hosted an informative briefing session on 4 June, 2012, on the potential for US-India cooperation in missile defense and space security. The briefing was delivered by prominent expert in the field Dr. Bharath Gopalaswamy for the benefit of Congressional Staffers, South Asia experts, AFPC fellows and a representative from NASA. 

On May 24, 2012, the BBC interviewed Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith on the case of Dr. Shakil Afridi, the Pakistani doctor who assisted the CIA in tracking bin Laden.  The discussion revolved around the fate of Dr. Afridi after his conviction and 33-year sentence in Pakistan, as well as the Obama administration's reaction to the case.

As part of his ongoing book project on Sino-Indian relations, Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith traveled to India from November 25 to December 3 for interviews and field research.

On December 16, 2011 Jeff M. Smith gave an address to a National Security Group of Capitol Hill staffers and outside policy experts that meets on Capitol Hill organized by Ed Corrigan, of the Senate Steering Committee and Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy. At the lunch, Smith gave a presentation on the troubled U.S.-Pakistan relationship and the state of future relations.

AFPC Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith continues to serve as the chairman of the South Asia Discussion Group for the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) organization, a network over 5,000 foreign policy professionals in Washington, DC and New York City.

AFPC Kraemer Strategy Fellow Jeff M. Smith has received funding to produce a major study on Sino-Indian relations to be conducted over the next year.

On Friday, September 23, Jeff M. Smith was interviewed by the Voice of America's Urdu Service regarding CJCS Admiral Mullen's testimony that the Haqqani network was a "vertiable arm" of Pakistan's intelligence service.
